Courtenay heat pump pricing

What a heat pump costs in the Comox Valley

Courtenay Heat Pumps quotes installations between $3,500 and $18,000 before rebates, depending on the system your house needs. If you heat with electricity, we can take up to $4,000 off that through the CleanBC Home Renovation Rebate with no income test, and up to $13,000 if you qualify on income through the Energy Savings Program. Here is what drives installation costs so you can estimate where your house fits in the range. We keep our pricing transparent and straightforward for every installation.

What you pay comes down to two things: the system your house needs and the rebate you qualify for. The system is about how many zones you need and whether you already have usable ductwork. Your rebate depends on your income tier. The Home Renovation Rebate has no income test, while the CleanBC Energy Savings Program pays up to $13,000 for electrically heated homes.

For a full breakdown of what an install involves, see ducted heat pump installation.

What the equipment costs before rebates

These figures show typical installed costs before rebates for homes in the Comox Valley. A single-head ductless system sits at the bottom of the range and a central ducted system at the top. If you genuinely need an electrical service upgrade, we quote it as a separate line rather than burying it in the system price.

System costs before rebates
SystemInstalled cost before rebates
Ductless, single zone$3,500 – $6,000
Ductless, multi zone$8,000 – $15,000
Ducted central$8,000 – $18,000
Electrical panel upgrade$2,000 – $5,000

What the rebate takes off

Two CleanBC programs are open to you, and your income decides which pays more — not the fuel we are taking out. The Home Renovation Rebate has no income test and pays up to $4,000 if you heat with electricity. The Energy Savings Program is income-qualified: at Levels 1 and 2 you can get up to $13,000 for that same electrically heated home, and Level 3 is where you land if you are switching off oil, gas or propane. If you already have a heat pump, neither replacing it nor adding a head to it is eligible.

The seven things that move a quote

The price depends on how many indoor heads you need for different zones in your home. Your cost changes based on whether you have usable ductwork that can support heat pump airflow. We run a CEC Rule 8-200 load calculation to determine what your electrical panel can safely handle. The length of your line-set runs affects equipment and labour costs, especially on larger properties. We price system capacity based on the exact heat-loss calculation for your home. You may need a protective coated coil if your outdoor unit sits close to salt air. Which CleanBC program and income tier you qualify for will lower your final out-of-pocket cost.

Why two quotes on the same house differ

Differences between quotes usually come down to the equipment quality and scope of work included. System capacity and equipment choices directly determine your total installation cost and rebate potential. Ask us to clarify exactly which rebate programs are included in your written estimate. That is what makes the comparison mean something.

Eligibility limits worth checking first

The Energy Savings Program is available for primary residences in ground-oriented homes across our service area. Ground-oriented homes qualify for this program, but large multi-unit condo buildings do not. If you already have a heat pump, neither replacing it nor adding a head to it is eligible under either CleanBC program. If our load calculation shows you genuinely need an electrical service upgrade, the program has an add-on for it, though it does not publish a dollar figure.

Every figure on this page is a range, and the only way we can narrow it for you is to walk your house — request a free quote and we will send a number sized to it.
